Utah MLS club: Build it, and we will play

In the news I know you've all been waiting for, the MLS expansion franchise Real Salt Lake (that's real the Spanish word, not the English word "real," though real does mean "real" - oh, never mind) is pitting Salt Lake City against the neighboring town of Murray in competing to be the home of the team's new soccer stadium. Whichever city comes up with free land for the stadium, team officials say, will get the team. Then Salt Lake County residents will all get to share responsibility for paying for half the cost of building the $60 million soccer-only facility. Okay, so it's not exactly "Everybody gets a car!"...

The designes for the new RSL facility look fantastic. Not that it matters to you or I, but the church of LSD is on board with the project for downtown SLC, and that is a big help in the business community. Downtown Salt Lake City has a 10 acre lot which the team could build the stadium. Murray, a suburb of SLC has a 100 acre lot for the team to build the stadium, offices, training facilities, and youth fields. I think the best of both worlds would be for the team to build its stadium in downtown SLC but have it's offices, training facilities, and youth fields in Murray.
