Tiger Stadium demolition could begin Friday
Sunday was the deadline set by the city of Detroit for the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy to come up with $369,000 to save part of Tiger Stadium before it's demolished. They didn't make it. The city says it expects to turn the 96-year-old ballpark over the demolition crews this week, with work likely beginning on Friday.
The Conservancy, which includes Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell, says it will keep up the fight so long as there's a Tiger Stadium left to save. I'd tell you how to make online donations to the cause, but, well...
