Fremonters protest A's stadium plans

A planned Oakland A's "information session" on their latest plans for a new stadium in Fremont turned into a protest on Thursday, as hundreds of local residents turned out with "No Stadium" signs and worries of horrendous traffic in their neighborhoods. Team officials responded, according to the San Jose Mercury News, by saying they have "proposed to pay for traffic monitors and security guards to keep fans out of surrounding neighborhoods." This doesn't seem like it's going to end well.

COMMENTS

This won't end well. Warm Springs is a non-starter. The sooner the A's accept this and either finish what they started at Pac Commons or move on to San Jose the better.

A's should wake up and realize that Fremont pipe dream will never happen ... SJ is completely out of the question. Have discussed this with many in the know who say that Selig's letter in no way opens up the south bay to them and is only designed to put pressure on Fremont to get a deal done. In this economic climate, this ill-conceived plan just doesn't work. They'll most likely stay in Oakland for a while.
