"The stadium died at 9:24"
Tiger Stadium is finally completely gone.
Detroit Economic Growth Corp. spokesman Bob Rossbach remarked earlier this week on the resulting vacant lot: "With this done, the site should look pretty good." If you're an opossum, anyway.
Idiots.
Posted by Mark on September 24, 2009 12:31 PMThis is heartbreaking; what else can I say?
Posted by Christine Fry on September 24, 2009 03:40 PMShame on Detroit for tearing down all of Tiger Stadium. That's why I was glad KC decided to renovate Kauffman and Arrowhead rather than building new. There's something to be said about preserving history.
Posted by Chris M on September 29, 2009 12:16 AMI'm glad they're renovating Arrowhead, but I'm not so happy they renovated Kauffman. Even though I moved to a neighboorhood about a half-mile from the TSC at the age of 3 and became a baseball fan by going to Royals games often, I believe baseball belongs closer to downtown and the site nexr to Union Station would've been a optimal location, plus Arrowhead could always use more parking.
