And speaking of the raw sewage at the Oakland A’s game, the O.com Coliseum’s manager now says it’s not old pipes that are to blame, but someone flushing something that they shouldn’t have:
The problem Sunday, he said, was that someone jammed something down a toilet that didn’t belong, clogging a line. The line has been cleared and it’s undamaged, he said.
Incidentally, he said, the city of Oakland and Alameda County — which run the Coliseum complex — are on the hook for “tens of thousands of dollars” to clean up the mess.
Seriously, just let the jokes run wild. Here, I’ll start: What, did Jose Canseco come for a visit?

You do realize, of course, that if Oakland had just built a new $450m stadium for Wolff (with perhaps $20m in annual debt service costs, depending on where the up front money comes from and how much of it there is), these tens of thousands of dollars would not have been… um… wasted?
We can thank Jerry Brown for that….but heck, it went to low-income housing instead!
Well low incoming housing that his political cronies were building.
In all fairness, that isn’t a great facility.
But also in all fairness, it’d be terrible for Oakland if they decided they should build a new one.
Man, I hope SJ prevails in court.
It’s certainly not a great facility, Mike. And those noting that it was the city itself (ok, it’s agency…) that made it a much worse baseball facility through mods made for the Raiders are also absolutely correct.
However, it is the only place they have to play at present.
Wouldn’t it be funny if the “mass” that blocked the pipes was made up of all the scrapped drawings 360/HOK/Populous whomever had made for A’s stadia that aren’t going to be built (in Fremont, SJ or elsewhere)?
Neil – someone could put something that doesn’t belong down the pipes in a new stadium too.
Also – you missed the opportunity to use ‘craptacular’ in this article and the prior one about the sewage backup.
You can’t put something down a new stadium’s pipes! They’re state of the art!
As for the craptacularity of this situation, I thought it was better left to the imagination of the reader. Show, not tell.
Well that didn’t work, so they’ll have to try the Steinbrenner tactic – pry loose a chunk of steel/concrete and let it fall why they’re at home.
SJ’s latest tempest in a teapot is nothing but a veiled attempt to do the bidding of Wolff & Co..
All Lew-Lew & co. have to do is pay up and SJ’s all his, but you know that’s not gonna’ happen.
It’s nice to be judged by a jury of my peers.
You’re welcome.
We now know where all that money that Oakland threw down the drain for Mt. Davis and the Raiders went…
BTW, we all talk about this being an A’s problem but the Raiders have the same drains (although one floor up apparently). So does this change the Raiders desire to share Santa Clara with the 49ers? Or does this mean the Raiders wait for the San Jose lawsuit to see if the A’s bolt, thereby increasing the Raiders’ leverage with Oakland?
