Cowboys owner Jerry Jones: NFL to Los Angeles ‘as close as it ever has been’
Jerry wants you to interpret this as “it’s close,” obviously, if only so that his fellow owners can scare their cities into building them new stadium. But if you’d rather read it this way, you’re welcome to do so.

Is somebody trolling for a new stadium somewhere? Maybe this was directed at the St. Louis pols.
So…. at least two decades away, then?
Or could this be the first salvo in the “jerry needs a new stadium” war???
I mean, that place has got to be, what, four years old now? Tick tock, baby…
The Raiders and Rams can leave in 2014 and 2015, respectively, and both would likely see business increases even if they played at the L.A. Coliseum. Plus Anschutz says that AEG is still interested plus the Dodgers have owners with eyes on bigger things. I think that’s what Jerry is saying.

Highly unlikely of course, but it would be the height of hilarity if the Davis family decided to move the Raiders to LA for the second time, only to go another decade-plus without getting a new stadium built.
Mr Jerry Jones is so right with his statement of ‘as close as it ever has been’. It was a big wish years ago and it is still a big wish today. Nothing has changed BUT it still just as close.
I’m hearing that the downtown AEG stadium may not be the landing spot if the team headed to LA turns out to be the Raiders. The radio media keeps saying that Mark Davis is negotiating with the group wanting to build the stadium out in Industry.
Personally, I think the Dodger Stadium lot is the best place to build. Close enough to downtown but with a parking lot large enough to host a ton of tail gate parties, a staple of NFL culture.
AEG/downtown is a horrible idea. Downtown is great for MLB/NBA/NHL where you play games all through the week and need to attract the downtown businesses during that week. But spending $300 million just to tear down the convention center then spend another billion to build a stadium is just stupid. Especially with no parking.
I’m guessing that Oakland won’t cave on the $300 million in public money that is needed for the 50,000 seat proposed stadium.
The Rams will most likely be 2nd in line as they will ask for a ridiculous amount for a new St. Louis stadium. Why they are asking for a new one when the current one is less than 20 years old is beyond me. The NFL makes so much money off of tv plus these buildings have no events outside of the NFL. At least the NHL and NBA can fill in dates for over 100 other days during the year.
Jerry’s depressed and acting out because he never really got to play the move to LA card during his stadium drive. We tease him about it at owners meetings all the time. I got to threaten my fans with LA and you didn’t Jerry, neener neener neener!
