The band of elected co-conspirators trying to come up with a new Milwaukee Bucks arena funding plan is meeting again today, and this time Gov. Scott Walker is going to attend in person! And he’s optimistic!
“But in this case I think us being there together, I think there’s enough movement together on what can be a reasonable plan going forward. We can get things done tomorrow or in the not too distant future.”
That’s … not actually meaningful in any way, since it just means if they don’t get a deal done today (or in the not too distant future), Walker can just point fingers at someone else and say, “We could have got things done, but that guy messed everything up!” Or it could mean that they’re not actually close to an agreement at all. This is what happens when elected officials meet behind closed doors and journalists just report on the non-quotes that they offer up before and afterwards.
Former Bears linebacker won his jock tax case against Cleveland, cutting his taxes by 38%. I wonder if this would affect the tax revenue projections for the Milwaukee arena? Not so much for the Bucks, but for the visitors’ share.
