The NFL’s official website has a “Los Angeles Rams” page

FoS reader Brian Sweeney writes in with a hot tip: Search for “LA” on the NFL’s official team site, and you get this:

Screen Shot 2015-05-04 at 10.57.43 AMNow, this is almost certainly some artifact of a legacy link to the Rams’ former incarnation, which somebody decided should point to the St. Louis Rams page. (Especially given all those broken image links in there.) Still, it doesn’t come up with the Oakland Raiders page, now does it? Coincidence?

Conspiracy-theorize away, people of the Internet.

  1. Not true. Just did a search on the NFL’s site and what you are suggesting didn’t come up, this did…

    Real lame…

  2. You have to search the “teams” part of the site, which I haven’t actually figured out how to do. I’ll ask Brian to post how he found this.

  3. A Yahoo! Sports article has the direct link:

    http://www.nfl.com/teams/profile?team=LA

  4. ^ Is there one for the Chargers?

If not, my totally unsubstantiated conspiracy theory is that the Raiders will ditch the Carson plan and move in with the Rams in Inglewood.

  5. The direct link is included in this item above as well — click on “you get this.”

  6. Neil’s right. They have legacy links for teams going back to 1990.

    Phoenix Cardinals: http://www.nfl.com/teams/profile?team=PHO

Only one I can’t find is the Houston Oilers.

  7. I’m almost certain, especially if the Rams have a good year is that they’ll stay in St. Louis. They are actually moving quickly to get a stadium approved, Oakland & San Diego almost seem to see the writing on the wall and don’t seem to be fighting the Carson Stadium plan. I would also suspect that the Arizona Cardinals move to the AFC West while the newly formed Los Angeles Chargers move to the NFC West.

Also San Antonio should quietly keep their stadium hopes and getting an NFL team alive. If the Rams get a stadium in St. Louis, the Chargers pull off a miracle and get a stadium in San Diego, it wouldn’t shock me if the Raiders took the San Antonio deal which would probably be a sweet-heart of a deal then the NFL can still hold teams hostage with the LA threat.

At that point, my money would be on the Washington NFL team moving to Los Angeles, because the owner is just like the Dolphins owner who loves LA and celebrities plus the move would allow the NFL to get rid of the “Redskins” team moniker by moving to LA, the metro-area would still have the Baltimore Ravens to root for and a new threat to move any NFL team to by having Washington, D.C. with no NFL team which they technically already don’t have since the Washington NFL team plays in Landover, Maryland and the practice facility/team headquarters is in Virginia.

  8. ^ That is an absurdly overcomplicated scenario that has no chance of playing out.

  9. Hey, hey! If you can’t spin out absurdly overcomplicated scenarios on this item, where can you spin them out?

  10. ^ When talking about NHL relocations and expansion. That the only thing on par.

  11. Wow…. way to go “NFL in LA”. I love a new perspective on this crazy game more than the game of football itself.

  12. NFL in LA – And will the Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to the Bears for Jay Cutler? Please say yes.

  13. They seem to have gotten wind of this story because they’ve killed those LA links dead.

The Boston and Phoenix ones still work fine.

  14. Indeed they have:

  15. Also putting in “KEN” fails to yield the Kenosha Kickers. Hmmmmmmm.
