Friday roundup: County might buy Richmond a minor-league ballpark, ticket prices soar at new Crew stadium, plus more athletes giving each other the ‘Rona

It was a big news week, what with the Anchorage mayor who resigned after being slandered as a pedophile by the anti-masking news anchor he’d been sexting with before she was arrested and fired for beating up her boss/fiance, and the new book about the libertarian town in New Hampshire that was ravaged by bears, and probably something about the election, I dunno, who can remember? So you are forgiven if you missed some of this week’s stadium and arena news, much of which focused on fans breathing all over each other inside them, but not all, not by a longshot:

  1. That Alaska story is something else. I’m still reading through the Defector article but the whole situation reads like surreal satire.

  2. The MLS article twice makes a big deal about the team not disclosing season ticket prices…even says this is a typical practice. Is that really true for other-than-premium seats?

  3. The Tennessee State Fair has already announced that they’re moving to Wilson County next year, one county to the east of Nashville/Davidson County. So that in itself seems to indicate that the State Fair association thinks it can’t coexist with the soccer statdium.

  4. Wow that Alaska story is surely not being covered much even in the Alaska news sources it’s hard to find, thanks for that. Not too shocked though, genuinely good people rarely go into politics or similar high payoff industries, too much integrity and morals. It’s the scum that rises to the top in the world of today sadly. This site confirms it in the sports world a lot.
